About Altair

Why we chose our name?

Altair comes from the Arabic word aţ‑ţä’ir (الطاير) which means bird or the eagle. The name also has celestial connotations, Altair is also the brightest star in the constellation of the Eagle. Our logo is arabic word Altair in the shape of both: an eagle and a bird. Which of the two can you see? Or can you see both?

Why Altair?

Reach places you could hardly find on your own

Altair intends to take travelers by the hand to reach places you could hardly find on your own, and where the people around you have probably never gone, nor would have ever considered going. It is an adventure with experts in the subject and basic comfort that will give you the opportunity to explore diverse landscapes, enjoying the culture, people, food and customs of Oman without language barriers, and the safety and guarantee of your well-being and of your family. An experience of discovering a unique country as the locals would do.

Our philosophy is “Enjoy an active, rustic trip with personality, while enjoying some comfort, always taking into consideration respect for culture and nature”

We Care

Giving back is important to us

With Altair Destinations’ signature tours, you give back to the country and its environment by helping to protect Oman’s endangered wildlife. How?

With each trip, we contribute to a cause meaningful to us through the Environmental Society of Oman’s donation program and we also give you the opportunity to donate directly to their projects and learn from them.

We seek to have a positive impact by supporting local sustainable projects such as Verde and Green, a vegan and ecological artisan store, with handmade products in Oman. Our small gift for you is made by them, as we avoid producing gift merchandise that ends up in a landfill.

Our history

We serve as a bridge to discover a culture

The idea of Altair was born in Oman in 2017, as an informal cultural exchange initiative between Spanish speakers and the Arab Culture in Oman, it has evolved for years until it reached Spain in 2022 and has transformed into a travel consultancy. The idea remains the same, to serve as a bridge to discover a culture and break stereotypes. The people involved in this project are people who love nature, are curious about other cultures and enjoy what they do. Altair is a passionate project that helps people discover and learn about culture in an organic way. We like to keep in mind that the cultural differences are not good or bad, they are just different.
